--------- Nick's POV. How can an unknown number be calling me? My hands start to tremble. “Nick, answer the phone, honey,” Mom presses. I press the green button and I swallow. “Hello?” I ask in a shaky voice. “Nick Jonas… Nice to speak to you… Saw your brother and my ex-girlfriend earlier… And oh, lookie here… Guess who's in front of me? Care to say hi, bitch?” a guy's voice laughs menacingly. “It's Alex,” Brooke hisses. My eyes grow wide. “Nick?” I hear someone sob. “Oh, my God. Summer! Are you okay? Sweetie, talk to me. Are you alright?” I cry. “Nick… I need you to listen to me okay?” Summer sobs. Everyone crowds around me and I clutch my phone. “Summer, tell me if you're alright,” I insist. “I'm okay, Nick. I'm—” She gets cut off and I hear a slap. I then hear Summer whimper and I gasp. “Summer!” I yell. “She's fine, Nick,” another voice assures me. I look at Brooke. “That's Drew…” she whispers. I nod. “Drew, what happened to Summer?” I ask, keeping my voice as level as possible. I hear another smack, another cry and my heart rips in two. “Alex… Please, Nick, help her. Please help he—” Drew starts to plead quietly, but then I hear a crunch and a pained cry. That can't be good. Tears pool in my eyes. “Get the fuck away from the phone, Parker,” I hear Alex hiss. “Nick…” Summer's voice again. “I'm here, Summer. What's going on?” I plead desperately. “That was me letting you know Summer is still very much alive ...
