Pizza, french fries, hot dogs and chips offered in school lunch rooms, everyday. What kid wouldn't pick pizza and fries over meatloaf and green beans? They didn't serve pizza, etc. when I attended school; your choice was whatever was on the menu. I entered military service in 1972; the mess hall didn’t offer pizza, fries, and hot dogs, on a daily basis. Your choice was whatever was on the menu, no soft drinks, pizza, hot dogs or fries in the mess hall back then either. Get rid of the junk food in the school lunch rooms and the mess halls and increase PT.

If I read your post correctly it seems the ice front will move, the basin will fill, the grounding line will extend, and the ice crumble... all within a very short time. Now with the altitude decline of the top surface, would that not further speed it up?
Who is keeping the office pool on this breakup? Put me down for $2 for a breakup on March 1st that extends the ice front line past 101 degrees.

...Once the baby boomers (the most selfish generation ever) retire we will be free of these imbeciles in the workforce... I've done my bit by already retiring.
However, I know how a poisonous staff room can make life very hard. Three times I have experienced this, and the results for me personally were in at least one case very serious -- I stopped teaching for almost two years!
And, sad to say, in all cases the poisoners were female...
Fortunately I have also known the opposite -- staff rooms which were just a delight to work in.

Yup -- particulate matter is the worst, and thankfully, Diesel is far worse for particulate matter, so at least we have going to us (us = anyone who lives, walks, bikes, or drives near other cars... not just cyclists). And, thankfully, we don't have many (any?) Muni buses that use diesel -- whenever I ride in other cities (i.e. LA), it's really, really worse than SF and I do sometimes debate holding my breath at the right moments.
The goal of car manufacturers and advertisers is to make you feel 'safe' inside a car -- be it crashes or pollution; and minimize the damage done by driving. And the trick of pollution and 'clean smelling' air worked on you this time. But, as every study shows, physical activity of biking and walking outweighs the dangers of pollution or even overly-weighted injury/death caused by increased exposure biking/walking by hundreds of times. Every mile you ride, the healthier you are, and the better life you live -- hands down; a little more pollution and an occasional feeling of threat from other road users in bigger, heavier vehicles aside, the cardiovascular exercise is a net gain, always.

i agree that the house serves as a foundation for the piece and i really like the way the lines in the tree and the stairs bring focus to your silhouette. i also think the solid green of the pool table contrasts well with the busy, colorful pattern created from the images you chose to fill your profile. i do however find the white in the top two corners, where the pool table recedes to be a bit distracting.

Seriously, I've never had to deal with lunch rooms as a kid or as a parent, they've always ate in classrooms. And you know about my school and PAs. There's never been a problem, a crossed eyed, or weird word from any parent, even with a peanut free classroom.I think you have some sort of transplant PTSD from your home state.

What I am asking from all of you here in this remarkable place is to reveal your experiences with outdoor pool tables. Is it really that much more entertaining than playing indoors? The conditions are good where I stay so do I have to to take a lot of precautions so the pool table will keep going a long time.
