Lets not go back to the future. The cost studies for an indoor pool were in the millions. The only hope is for a joint school/community pool and even that would need subsidies for ongoing costs after construction.
Wouldn't it be cheaper for Council to put on a regular bus to Uncle Doug's Wangaratta heated pool for those who need to swim regularly.

Please don’t worry. No money raised by the Playa Pals is being turned over to anyone. We don’t disparage what LG did in their fundraising. We think they did a great job. We understand your concerns, but the decision to make that contribution was in the hands of LG’s administrators. We are confident that they did what they thought was best to serve the region, regardless of any concerns others may have had. And frankly from what we have seen, the State Government (to whom LG actually donated) has done a lot of good work in Mahahual and the rest of the Costa Maya. Remember they are trying to help a lot of people.
However, from the very beginning, Playa Pals have made it clear that their fundraising is solely to be spent on emergency goods to be taken directly to the people of Mahahual by the Playa Pals. We are thrilled with the possibility that governement, Red Cross, or other humanitarian aid will be coming into the area. However, it has not arrived yet, and Playa Pals continues to provide food, water and supplies. We’re going to spend every last penny. Today, individual food packages (about 200 of them) are being prepared for distribution tomorrow. Water in gallon jugs is being purchased today in as large an amount as the trucks can carry. Members of our “Dutch Army” are also out buying hundreds of mosquito nets for distribution. They have also organized and are hosting a local fundraiser for Mahahual in Playa del Carmen tonight which offers a raffle with some great prizes, including 5 nights at our hotel.
The administration of LG actually asked if we would take their surplus money and spend it in Mahahual for them. Although we have had some problems with the way we were treated on their forum, we said yes. However, subsequently they decided to donate the money to the Red Cross. Again, that’s their decision, not ours.

Salat, I'm not sure what he was thinking, but he ate the snow off from the deck as well.
The firewood was from a dead tree in the yard, and my dad helped cut it down, I do need to give that to my younger sister. I've a gas fireplace but only used it once or twice in the last 5 years, and it's not that cold here, but I don't think there is any restriction in burning woods in our state, just the water restriction here.]]>

If you're thinking of moving to Washington State (perhaps hoping to retire there on your limited income), WATCH OUT!!!WA doesn't have an income tax (presumably Bill Gates won't allow it
. But they have a MONUMENTAL sales tax - even worse than CA. It varies somewhat by city and county, but for instance, Seattle demands 8.8% tax - on sales AND (UNlike Calif) on various types of services (e.g. construction labor, gardening services), and extracts a 9.3% ransom from those who dare patronize Seattle restaurants or bars.Washingtonians consider 8.4% - on sales AND various services - to be a "low" tax!And they apply these same tax gouges to sales of high-ticket items such a as RV's (and boats and planes).But it gets worse:If you move into Wash State from some other state, already owning an RV (or boat or plane) and want to (are required to) license it in WA, they demand full "sales" tax on it!Even if you bought it YEARS earlier, in some other state, as a resident of some other state!Ahhh, but they only screw owners of RV's, boats and planes this way; not car-owners. (I.e., they only excessively gouge minorities who don't have the political clout to defend themselves.)They do allow credit for any [lower!] sales tax paid in some other state, if you still have evidence of payment. And since you're need keep tax records for only seven years, they waive this special tax-gouge on RV's, boats and planes owned out-of-state for more'n seven years.BUT, if you come from any of the several states - such as Oregon - that doesn't have any sales tax. As I said last Friday, you don't shut down your computer by ripping out the power switch. You aren't constantly tearing out transistors from the motherboard of your computer while it is running programs. Designers don't design these things in this way.
The reasons why are quite different from "bad design". They reveal fundamental dissimilarities between life and engineered (designed) objects.]]>

My dad has a double car garage on the back of their property that is his workshop. We were out there working on a project together and discussing his mice problem. He said (looking up towards the ceiling), "God, it sure would be nice to have a stray cat come live here and help take care of these mice..." Suddenly, a cat came STREAKING into the garage like it was being chased by a rabid dog and jumped up on my dad's back, claws and all.
