You got a bunch of friends, some chips and cards, but nothing to play on. sure, you could buy a full table for a game room, but that's expensive. Why not get a folding poker table?
Folding poker tables run about $100-$200 and usually come with chips and drink holders from various vendors, and they can be bought from any poker shop, various game parlors, Amazon, or eBay.
What you're going to be looking for might depend on your need. if your group of guys tends to drink a lot of beer, a drink holder might be a must on your table. if you don't have one of those beautiful aluminum cases full of poker chips, you might want to invest in a folding poker table with poker chips. How heavy are your players? That guy who happens to love pizza and beer might not do too well on one of those chairs with a 200 lb. weight limit.
What should you look for in a poker table? I'm a stickler for quality. I'd rather spend more now and know my table is going to last 10 years or longer as opposed to the first time someone has a royal flush and someone gets angry and splits my poor folding poker table in half with a mistimed hit. Check with several gaming places and find the table that's right for you -- you may be a blue felt kind of person and all the tables are green felt. No one's right or wrong, it's a matter of personal taste.
In conclusion, the right folding poker table is one that will make you the talk among your friends now and several years from now, until they all have watched their kids graduate from college. A good table will help you create many memories with your friends and spend quality time, and possibly taking their money.

I'm in many ways jealous of many of you. I'm also envious. I lost my Dad shortly after returning home from the Army in 1970. I do however, get together for an occasional poker night with my brothers and sisters (occasional meaning about 4 times a year). It's a grat way to stay connected and since I'm the only one who doesn't drink alcohol, I usually win.

As a note, I'm not quite sober... but at poker night tonight the possibility of what life would be like with four balls came up and the prospect of a writing a paper on the maximal packing of said four balls came up. (I'm the only female at the table, so I just roll with these things.) Perhaps I should send the guys the reference to the fourth talk for further research on the topic...

Also, the market for desktops is rapidly dwindling as folks move to mobile form factors. So, unless you are extruding plastic or drop forging aluminum cases, good luck 'building your own'.
Many folks, particularly those who are not as computer-savvy, opt for the promise of a simple machine, with significant built-in software capabilities that works straight out of the box. Apple stores provide training, demos and personal help. Software and service have become differentiators when hardware has become a commodity. And, in that regard, Apple beats most others hands-down.
So, try not to be insulting by professing some imagined knowledge about computers (btw, knowing how to plug video cards into a mobo doesn't really count) and come to terms with the fact that other folks aren't like you, have different values and opinions, and, quite possibly are intelligent people who just don't want to fuss around with a computer anymore.]]>

The theme of NVIDIA's recent GPU Technology Conference could probably be summed up as, "look at all the non-gaming places where GPUs are now being used." And, truth be told, the show floor boasted a fairly impressive array of non-gaming GPU options. There were supercomputing-oriented demos aplenty, but even outside of high-performance computing, the GPU is finding its way into some interesting niches.
One of the first demos that we saw on entering the show floor was the MAGIC1 by GE's Intelligent Platforms division. Shown in the picture below, the unit is essentially a small form factor PC wrapped in a giant heatsink and rated to operate in temperatures from -40C to 55C.

According to the US Department of Housing and Urban Development's 2008 Annual Homeless Assessment Report, the most common demographic features of all sheltered homeless people are: male, members of minority groups, older than age 31, and alone. More than two-fifths of sheltered homeless people have a disability. At the same time, sizable segments of the sheltered homeless population are white, non-Hispanic (38 percent), children (20 percent), or part of multi-person households (33 percent). Approximately 68 percent of the 1.6 million sheltered homeless people were homeless as individuals and 32 percent were persons in families.[15]
In 2008 more than two-thirds of all sheltered homeless people were located in principal cities, with 32 percent located in suburban or rural jurisdictions. About two-fifths of people entering an emergency shelter or transitional housing program during 2008 came from another homeless situation (sheltered or unsheltered), two-fifths came from a housed situation (in their own or someone else's home), and the remaining one-fifth were split between institutional settings or other situations such as hotels or motels. Most people had relatively short lengths of stay in emergency shelters: three-fifths stayed less than a month, and a third stayed a week or less.[15]
