One of the first things I did after my vacuum press and vacuum bag arrived in the mail was to make a storage container for my bag so it will not get damaged. I used six inch rigid poly drain pipe and end caps to make this container. My goal was to protect the bag, valve and end clamp.

I like the above (bakwards hangar) technique. Another option is the "temporary storage" trick. Put anything you haven't worn recently in a box or Rubbermaid storage container. Keep it, but not too conveniently. After a year's time, look through it again. Chances are you'll realize that you really didn't need those items after all.The other solution: Sell the best no-longer-needed pieces at a consignment store and get a few bucks for them.
Assuages the guilt muscles a bit.

I would add ripe strawberries, warm in the sun, and bonfires of "clean" wood/brush (I burn my wild blackberry clippings) to the list of "good smells", and dead rat in a drain pipe to my list of "bad smells". Compost that hasn't cured properly before being spread has a pretty undelightful odour also. Your article and the comments make some fun reading!

......Yeah - Pete - I do read your site. Thanks for the video of the bootmaker. The boot makers website leaves much to be desired though. While Erwin was being interviewed - you could see in the background - two vaccum presses. These are interesting devices and I considered using them for the shell lamination at one point. They're expensive and require specialized vaccum pumps. Not really necessary IMO. The only piece of equipment that a boot maker could use to make life easier is a shoe makers sewing machine.Every boot maker uses or engineers the construction process differently. I don't understand what he was saying, but it looks like he doesn't use the plaster as a last. That machine he showed is a different kind of vacuum press. He appears to be using it to make a plastic shell, then using that as the last. The plaster last is saved so that another pair can be made from them without re-casting.I like the solution, but it's not an affordable one for a small boot maker.]]>

While I love you and Dave Grohl both to death, I never understood the fascination people have with The Foo Fighters. While they did okay alternative stuff, I never found that they were doing anything different than a lot of other bands, and therefore they never caught my interest. I still think their first album was great, but everything afterwards was just kind of going with things so to speak.
As for Queens of the Stone Age, check out "Feel Good Hit of the Summer", "No One Knows", or "Go With the Flow". I can say THIS without pretentiousness: the guys in Queens (especially the guitarist and bassist) are more talented musicians than their counterparts in The Foo Fighters. Yes, I realize Dave Grohl played drums on Songs for the Deaf, but the Foo Fighters as a whole just disappoint me.
