Entry from: Taba, Egypt Entry Title: "EGYPT PART 2 FEB 19, 20 & 21" Entry: "Wednesday, Feb 18 We head out to the Damascus Gate and find a taxi, No one wants to take us to the bus station metered and if they do they want to charge extra for the bags. We head up to Jaffa Street and catch a bus, the station is at the end of the street. We go through security and up the escalator to the 3rd floor where the buses are. We get our tickets from a machine using the confirmation number I received over the phone yesterday, and the numbers of my passport, automatically charged to my credit card! Worked out great. I go back downstairs to the bookstore to see if they have a su do ku book, yes and it is a small thin one for only . Yikes. Len finds two books at the store upstairs for less. The night bus was an experience, I had a sleeper compartment which is like a cage above the seats right at the back, Every turn and pot hole you feel 4 fold, I found it really hard to get any sleep, some how I managed a couple of hours, I arrived in Udaipu at 5am so checked into a hostel and got a few more hours sleep. Spent the first day finding my way around town, there are loads of hotels here to suit all budgets, from 200r's up to several thousand for the exclusive hotels on islands on the picturesque lake. You can get a boat over to 1 of the private islands and spend some time in the hotel grounds, I was thinking of having tea but it was 20 times the expense of anywhere else in the town. I met a guy (Robin) from Toronto and spent time exploring the city palace which is another exclusive hotel but also the major tourist attraction in town, Guests are spending 0 ^ on a room and there are hundreds of backpackers invading the space which I found a little odd, You can use the lovely swimming pool there as a non guest for on 300r;s about 4quid,only problem was that it was a little damp on the day that I ...
