And now with the prize pool top heavy, and me being majorly fatigued and tired from staying up playing this marathon tournement, it's time for me to unleash all of the moves that I had been wanting to make but had been supressing. Time to shove all in and live fearless. Made a few mistakes here, but I errored on the aggressive side. Throughout most of the tournement you want to actually play for 2nd, 3rd, 4th, or 5th, not first. The reasoning is simple... poker tournements are essentially a cash game where everyone must go until they are broke. But instead of winner taking all, the winner must give up about 85% of his winnings to people just or "surviving longer". This makes the cash game very skewed and a huge advantage for just survving. However, once you are at this stage of the tournement, you have already been gauranteed a pretty significant amount of cash. You're not the only one that wants to fold your way up into the money, and it is best to show a crazy style of aggression, because this will confirm to the shorter stacks that it is best to wait until the maniacs knock each other out. They will not only give up their blind, but they will probably blind themselves to death trying to move up another spot. And other poeple with big stacks won' want to mess with you and end up going out 5th when they could fold their way to 2nd. It's more based on physchology now ...

if he's going for the win, I think he's gotta take that chance. Besides he's not in "deep trouble" against those hands, he's actually only a 48.5% dog. Consider all of the dead money in the pot and the amount he's committed and he loses more by folding. Of course, he could just fold his way up to 3rd and THEN get crazy and still probably make it, but 5000 people on a rebuy? I'd be ready to shove in whenever I could too.

Clearly there's a difference in your play and most. You play to win. Might be a little to reckless, but I love the all or nothing mentality at the final table.

I agree that for MTT:s actually 100 buyins should be the goal, that is 1% of your bankroll. But i will not play many mtt:s the coming months so i will stick to 3-5% for now.
My cash game rules is not totally risk free. 5% at multiple tables can be risky.
Bare in mind though that i have mostly spent around 30% of my bankroll on one cash game table in the past =)
Taking shots at too high stakes have been my middle name the last couple of years =(
