Entry from: Kata, Thailand Entry Title: "Asia 2010 Part 2" Entry: "Sunday March 14 I left for the airport about 10:00 am for the 1:00 pm flight on AirAsia to Phuket, Thailand. A packed plane and a quick 1 ¼ hour flight to Phuket and arrived about 2:00 pm as Thailand is an hour behind Singapore. Immigration and customs was quick and I headed to the metered taxi stand for a ride to the south end of the island and my hotel on Kata Beach. It took about an hour to drive to the hotel, the traffic was quite heavy and I have never seen so many motor scooters in my life. An economical form of transportation for the island people and I saw all types. Many with side cars with everything from people to animals riding alongside. I even saw a sidecar that was set up as a portable BBQ that was a moving food stand. I arrived at the hotel and checked in and was in the pool in no time at all. It was very hot out and the pool at this hotel is beautiful. My balcony steps right into the pool and I was able to amble through waterfalls, bridges and the swim up pool bar. The grounds are also beautiful and very well maintained and quite green, despite the lack of rain this time of year for Thailand.
