Well, this picture was taken at my house in South Carolina, and it's the same pool table because Mom SHIPPED me the pool table when she sold that house. I agree - it's absolutely safe and functional, and looks like it could be really enjoyable. Our living room fireplace when I was a kid had a sliding mesh screen just like that one; as you say, a hearth does not become unsafe merely because it is installed at countertop level. That was actually a major advance in kitchen design, back in, oh I dunno, the 1300s or something. The Germans invented it while the rest of the world continued to crouch down on their dirty floors to cook. ;D

i just looked up an oregon coast site and found a place on the beach on 1,000 acres with elk herds in the yard and hot tub, fireplace, gourmet kitchen + and it's $170-$270 a night. i know that's expensive, but really, not that much, i know fancy hotels with elevators, matching rooms and scratchy sheets that charge the same. i just got way too caught up in searching out hotels and lodges. there are a lot of choices. i might make up a credit card number and book something for myself

Last night WeWork Labs, a startup incubator that houses 50+ aspiring entrepreneurs and helps them build businesses, announced it's upgrading its office. WeWork Labs, currently located at WeWork's Soho location, is moving to a 75,000 square foot space at 175 Varick Street in February 2012. About 17,000 square feet will be dedicated to WeWork Labs. "We hope to take the current incubator format to the next level and will accommodate and mentor hand-selected tech companies in their different stages of growth," says cofounder Matt Shampine. Kyrgyz prosecutors probe fuel supplies to U.S. Manas airbase
New Kyrgyz authorities have launched a criminal investigation into an embezzlement scam involving companies charged with supplies of jet fuel for a U.S. military transit center serving Afghanistan.
According to the Kyrgyz prosecutor's office, London and Gibraltar-registered Red Star Enterprises Ltd. and Mina Corp Ltd. have purchased over 1.8 mln tons of jet fuel from Russia through six Kyrgyz firms without paying an import duty since 2005.
"A criminal case has been opened...and the amount of potential losses suffered by the state is being established," the prosecutor's office said in a statement on Friday.
"All companies belonged to Maxim Bakiyev [a son of ousted president Kurmanbek Bakiyev]," the document said.
