Before you paint over your oak mantle, have you tried pickling it? I'm a huge fan of wood finishes in homes, and to my eye, the only problem with it is that it's too dark. Maybe try lightening the wood before painting it

I always thought the Gilmore Girls living room (and in fact, whole house) was lovely. Plenty of comfy seating options, and it seemed lived in. However, I was always baffled as the whether there was a bathroom on the ground floor. And how, eventually, did the upstairs bathroom become the master bathroom?
I don't pay much attention to tv homes, generally (which is funny for a real estate junkie like me), but I did always want the GG's house.

July 23, 2010 give-or take a day: the Laundry Room ceiling and damaged wall area by the Storage Room door have been "repaired" -- to a point. In the Laundry Room, there is still evidence of flaked paint; and it isn't clear whether the paint is primer or finish coat (the colour isn't quite right).
Assuming the peeling paint was caused by moisture, unless it was completely dry (and undamaged) before painting, just scraping and painting over it is not a long-term solution.]]>

Then there are a bunch of guys, a few having little to no knowledge of football. Some have the decency to keep this secret to themselves; others pay little heed, and show it when predicting an interception on a kickoff return or when they repeat what others have to say like clockwork. Then there are those that know what’s going on, have watched all season, and care about the result. And, of course, in the corner off to the side, is the lone real Steeler fan, wearing the number 43 proudly, who’s emotions run from announcements that “this is the best weekend of my life” to leaving the room, in anger and bewilderment, for a friendlier environment downstairs.
Ah, takes me back to the days of watching World Cup '02 in high school.

I was directed here by other friends at CBC as I have recently purchased the castaway pad and like you followed the directions, but nothing happened, tried and tried and nothing, no image, it either slipped off the paper on heating it with dry iron or just disappeared like a secrect message
In the end had to admit defeat. Fearing I had not understood the instructions or had the wrong paper/card I asked for help at CBC and they directed me to you 
After reading of your experience I will go away and not follow any of the directions on the castaway pad and like you just play around and see what happens.
