I don't think it's enormous.
Downstairs: Kitchen, formal dining room, living room (not a huge living room, if I recall correctly--unless, is there a den?).
Upstairs: 2 bedrooms and a master bedroom suite. I think that's it. I don't think there's a 4th bedroom or any of the modern "extra" rooms (sewing room, office, finished basement, etc.). There isn't a porch, just a patio, I THINK, but as you know, Marriage of Figaro is the episode that my DVR screwed up and I have only seen it once. That's where you see the yard.

I wondered what all that papery whispering in the night was! I have 7 pretty good sized bookshelves, stuffed to the gills, and need a bigger place. I'm jonesing for a Craftsman style bungalow, since they lend themselves quite well for being book-lined hermit holes. If I can find a standard-issue home with a 'formal' living room and formal dining room, they'll become the library/study, with the family room being the main living area. I need a third bedroom, a full attic, full basement, garage, and sun porch in addition to what I have.

The Kawarau Gorge bridge was built in 1880 from a design and specifications drawn up by the engineer Harry Higginson in a remarkable 16 days. A Dunedin-based consulting engineer of considerable experience, he was engaged by the Lake County Council. He was ably assisted by his staff members Arthur Robert William Fulton and Walter Cleave Edwards. The span is 91.4 m and the height is 42.7 m from the deck to normal water level. The timber deck width is 3.6 m carried on a stiffening truss originally built of red beech with some Australian ironbark for braces and filling blocks. The two pairs of towers were built of schistose rock after some difficulty in finding suitable stone which is variable in quality in this part of Central Otago. They are built in ashlar (squared and dressed stone laid in regular 458 mm courses) with some stones weighing two or more tonnes. The towers taper from 2.7 m square at the base to 1 m square at the top. On the south side the cables are anchored in vertical shafts. The north side of the bridge has a very constricted approach and a sharp bend required the anchors to be taken into tunnels in the perpendicular rock face. The cables, supplied by the Warrington Wire Rope Company of England, consist of 28 galvanised steel wire ropes 123mm in circumference. Each rope contains six strands of seven wires each with a core of hemp. During the erection of the cables the ropes ware hung over, stretched and adjusted to the correct length separately, with corrections being allowed for variations in temperature. The anchorages and towers are not in a direct line because there is a horizontal curve formed by the cables — an American practice that gives greater lateral stability to the structure.]]>
